‘When you feel afraid, like everything won’t be okay, take a breath and just address what’s here today.’ - James Sinclair
James Sinclair wrote this song as a ‘Quarantine Prescription’ for a friend back in March 2020.
As many of us go into second or even third lockdowns I think it might be just what we need.
This week I won’t be sending any evidence-based recommendations, I just want to send you this gentle reminder to give yourself a break.
Humans are not fuelled by gasoline, we need love and rest and recognition and attention and safety and good food and sunshine and movement and so much more.
From the song:
Just get your feet to touch the floor
Slowly remember what you woke up for
Take in the silence for a minute more
One breath is more than we could ask for
Might help to write yourself a list
A couple of friends you’re glad you have today
And don’t forget to give yourself a little grace
Cause we were never meant to live this way
My heart goes out to all of you in all your different situations. I hope you’re safe, surrounded by loved ones with a support network that means you’re not additionally worried about finances and job security.
But if you’re not, then I hope that this song brings you a little joy and I send you so much love.
Reach out in the comments or reply to this email if you’d ever like to talk.
I wish you joy and health,
Marie
P.s. Next week I’ll be back with the usual type of content- we’ll be talking about all the reasons naked is healthy.
